Go-u-aches

Oh my, in late 2023, these were the result of one of my self-made mini goals. I was determined to paint a little go-u-ache painting for each of the little frames before ski season.

Years ago, when I was a caregiver, I had made time to cut the mats (one or two a week). Another year, I made time to clean the glass (again, one or two a week). After I got them all ready, I neatly tucked them away into boxes and … they sat … and sat.

Finally, several years after my caregiving time, I made the decision to experiment with qo-u-ache so that I would have a fun challenge filling these frames.  I was surprised that each one took longer than I had expected. I kept having to repaint them because I was so unfamiliar with the way the paint dried.
It was satisfying knowing that I had actually accomplished my mini-goal of  painting all the tiny paintings, photographing them, framing them up and tucking them away in what I call my ‘show boxes.’

I haven't been showing these much but maybe I'll start bringing them out again this fall. They make unique holiday gifts (even if they're for yourself!!).
